About Farishtey

In today's fast-paced and often materialistic world, we have become disconnected from the natural process of death and dying. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus the reality that many people face the end of life unprepared, alone, and struggling to find meaning in their suffering. At the same time, changing family structures and societal dynamics have made it increasingly challenging for loved ones to provide the compassionate care and support that is so crucial during this profound transition.

Farishtey, which means "angels" in Hindi, is a pioneering program that aims to bridge this gap by training and certifying end-of-life doulas, or "Farishtas," to provide holistic care and companionship to individuals and their families as they navigate the final stages of life.

Rooted in ancient wisdom traditions and grounded in contemporary best practices, the Farishtey program recognizes death as a sacred and deeply personal experience that deserves to be honored with reverence, dignity, and compassion. Our Farishtas are trained to respect and integrate the unique cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs of those they serve, creating a nurturing environment that promotes emotional acceptance, peaceful preparation, and a sense of meaning and closure.

Through a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, our Farishtas learn to offer a wide range of support services, including:

  1. - Emotional and spiritual guidance

  2. - Legacy project facilitation

  3. - Vigil planning and support

  4. - Pain and symptom management techniques

  5. - Bereavement care and grief counselling

By working in harmony with medical professionals, family members, and other care providers, our Farishtas aim to fill the gaps in end-of-life care, by providing personalized attention, empowering clients to make informed choices, and alleviating the burden on loved ones during this challenging time.

The Farishtey program is a testament to our belief that every individual deserves to experience a good death – one that is free from unnecessary suffering, surrounded by love and dignity, and infused with a deep sense of purpose and meaning.

Join us on this sacred journey as we strive to create a more compassionate and accepting culture around death and dying, empowering individuals and communities to embrace this natural transition with grace, wisdom, and the tender care of our Farishtas.
